Compare AI Detectors by What Sets Them Apart

Detectors differ less in whether they find AI text than in who can buy them, how they count usage and what else they bundle. Start with the one question that matters for you, then open the page for that tool.

Five checks before you commit

  1. Name your formats

Essays, CVs, articles, PDFs or images? Avoid paying for a second tool to cover one of them.

  2. Run known samples

Use a few texts you wrote and a few you generated, and note which tool explains its result.

  3. Convert the limits

Words per month, characters per scan, credits and checks per day are different units. Translate them to your busiest day.

  4. Read the data terms

For student or candidate documents, find out what is stored and whether it trains models.

  5. Plan for wrong flags

No detector is perfect. Agree how flagged passages will be reviewed before you roll anything out.

How these pages are written, and what they leave out

We work from competitors’ own pricing pages, help centres and documentation, link them and date them (2026-10-10). Prices keep the vendor’s currency with no conversion. Where we could not verify a claim we say so, and a page we could not re-check is marked as such. We have not run any competitor on our own test set, so there are no head-to-head accuracy numbers here. The only outside datum we cite is the 2023 Stanford study, where seven detectors then available flagged 61.3% of non-native English TOEFL essays on average (Liang et al.); that is older data on older tools. ProofAI’s own published results are on the accuracy page. To report an error, contact us.

What ProofAI offers, for reference: 10 scans/day without an account; 25/day with a free account; Starter ₹849/month or ₹8,499/year (75 detections/day); Text, PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT (up to 25 MB) and images (JPG, PNG, WebP); video coming soon.

Changing tools without losing consistency

Run the old and new tool on the same documents for a week, note where they disagree, and update your review guidance before you switch. Tell students, candidates or writers which detector you use and how results are reviewed. A consistent process matters more than which detector you pick.

Frequently Asked Questions

None is best for everyone. Choose by the formats you check, your language, your budget and privacy needs, and test with samples you know.

Of those covered here, Copyleaks and Originality.ai list Hindi. GPTZero’s list does not include it, and ProofAI has no published list.

They are written by ProofAI. Every competitor fact links to its source and date, and each page says when the other tool is the better pick.

Their unique content moved into the GPTZero and Turnitin pages.
